These types of meters are ideal for measuring high volumes of water, and therefore used in any businesses that need to monitor how much they use, including agricultural applications.Water meter devices come in round or straight models, and depending on how they are made, can be read in inches or cubic feet. Either way this is clearly noted on the face of the unit. Straight models are similar to a cars odometer, and when used to meter high water volumes, usually is labeled 10X, 100X, and even higher, depending on the application. When the meter registers flow, you would use this measurement and times it by the multiplier. Older circular models use a series of dials and are much more complex to make accurate readings.With the problems we are having in the environment today, it is especially important for commercial companies, home residences, and anyone else to use a water meter to do their part to make changes.
