Traffic via SEO
All webmasters are keen to get good backlinks to their sites, and with good reason. The search engines love backlinks, and it can often mean more visitors as people follow those links. But, certain techniques will increase the chances that the search engines will be happy with your efforts.First of all you should vary your anchor text. If all 50 of your links use exactly the same word/phrase you run the risk Google will take some weight off those links. Links have to look natural, and using the same word looks contrived. For example, your page could be on the subject of ‘tea’. You might use the anchor texts as follows:-1. drink of tea2. cup of tea3. tea drinksThe main word ‘tea’ is still used, but in slightly different forms. Variations can also be beneficial when searchers are tapping in different phrases to find your site.Secondly, when you are creating your backlinks, deep link. This means not just linking to one page, usually your home page, but to other important pages also.Google likes to see natural linking, and doing so to your inner pages helps to get those pages ranked. Better rankings equals more cheap traffic, since most people go to sites via search engines. Use a rough ratio of 70% to your home page, the other 30% to your other pages, ignoring of course your privacy or contact pages. If you have a lot of additional pages you could even split it 50/50. And, remember to vary your anchor texts to those inner pages, just as you do with your main page.
