A Short History of Google Adwords Advertising

Google INC started Google AdWords internet marketing in the year 2000, based on an idea of Billy Gross of Idealabs. Due to excessive competition in this campaign, many companies started to face problems in managing their AdWords accounts & campaigns. They then started to hire professionals who could manage advertising for them.

Following the rise of many ad agencies, Google, decided to start a certification program for such professionals or agencies. Such personnel are called the Google Advertising Professionals. By this move Google helped the companies to have better people manage their AdWords campaigns. GAPs or the Google advertising professionals are generally seen handling tasks like reviewing the clients’ website, business model, creation of good ads, preparing budgets, scheduling the ads, targeting specific section of market, and mainly monitoring the campaign successfully.

Since clients also have to focus on their business development, makes it easy for them if they hire these GAPs. Apart from this since GAPs are specialised in the trade it would make the load on the company comparatively less. Even hiring a GAP is much economical than hiring an in house specialist. GAPs may be a single individual or they could be even a huge agency that only specialises in online marketing. They may be specialised in only search engine marketing or even more fields. GAPs may or may not charge setup fee, but the fee that they ask may consist of the following: monthly management fee, hourly fee, percentage of profit, and miscellaneous charges. This varies from person to person based on their specialisation and experience. To be a GAP a person has to sign up for the GAP program, manage at least one or more AdWords accounts for 90 days successfully. They must spend an equivalent of US $1,000 in the 90 day period. And most important of all they must pass the GAP exam conducted by Google.
